About

Welcome to Positive Health Alliance

Positive Health Alliance is a 501(c)(3) Not for Profit agency.  We were founded in Florida and our goal has been to fight HIV through education, case management, and modern medicine. We believe that we are at a point where HIV’s stigma can be drastically changed, and new HIV exposures can be greatly reduced, and ultimately eliminated.

What is PREP?

Prep is a daily medication that can greatly reduce your chances of contracting HIV:

    • Pre = before
    • Exposure = coming into contact with HIV
    • Prophylaxis = treatment to prevent an infection from happening
    • Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) is an HIV prevention strategy where HIV-negative individuals take anti-HIV medications before coming into contact with HIV to reduce their risk of becoming infected. The medications work to prevent HIV from establishing infection inside the body.

PrEP has been shown to reduce risk of HIV infection through sex for gay and bisexual men, transgender women, and heterosexual men and women, as well as among people who inject drugs.

It does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections (STI) or pregnancy. It is not a cure for HIV.

What is PEP?

Think you may have been exposed to HIV? Get on Pep within 72 hours and your chances of catching HIV can be almost nonexistent.
PEP stands for post-exposure prophylaxis. The word “prophylaxis” means to prevent or control the spread of an infection or disease. PEP means taking HIV medicines within 72 hours after a possible exposure to HIV to prevent becoming infected with HIV.
PEP should be used only in emergency situations. It is not meant for regular use by people who may be exposed to HIV frequently. PEP is not intended to replace regular use of other HIV prevention methods, such as consistent use of condoms during sex or pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)

How can I afford this?

Most insurances cover your medication. But, for those that don’t have prescription coverage, we can help! We work with agencies that provide medication assistance that will provide your medications free of charge (must qualify). And we can deliver discreetly!
